Introduction
This 5-day introductory course provides the participants with an overview of the oil and gas industry.
Objectives
- The brief history, main operations of the Industry;
- The geologic and engineering terminology used in fields of exploration and production;
- The geologic aspects relative to the formation and accumulation of hydrocarbons;
- The steps and risks undertaken in exploration and the main methods employed;
- The requirement for geologic and engineering data, how data is generated and managed;
- The main steps undertaken to drill and construct a well;
- The main methods to estimate hydrocarbon volumes and reserves;
- How oil and gas fields are developed, and the main facilities required for the production and evacuation of oil and gas to markets;
- The principal issues relative to safety and environmental control in the upstream sectors.
Upon completion of the course the attendees will be able to understand:
Training Methodology
The training methodology is interactive with group exercises and is suitable for all employees involved in process, maintenance and operations management. The pace and level of the training workshop is customized to the understanding of the delegates. Ongoing back-up and support is available after the training on request to the supplier, and the training course is also available for in-house presentation as well as for “Competency Transfer”.
Who Should Attend?
New graduate in petroleum engineering graduates, non-engineering graduates with few years of experience in the petroleum industry.
