Introduction

An audit is a systematic review of operations and practices to ensure that relevant requirements are met. A safety audit is a structured, methodical assessment and evaluation of how workplace activities affect safety and health. This training focuses on the outcomes required to conduct an Environmental Safety & Health (ES&H) audit. It involves systematic examination against audit criteria to determine conformance with planned arrangements and the effectiveness of the organization’s approaches to managing ES&H. it covers the conduct of an ES&H audit including developing an audit plan and tools to gather ES&H information and data, ensuring client/management liaison and briefing, arranging access to information, setting up entry and exit meetings and coordinating evaluation/audit and audit team against timelines and the submission of reports.

Objectives

    Upon successful completion of this course, participants should be able to:

    • Identify, gather, analyze, evaluate and report findings of ESH records.
    • Assess the scope and objectives of a quality audit.
    • Develop and submit an ES&H audit plan and tool.
    • Guide team members in continuously improving their performance.
    • Compile audit results and prepare reports.
    • Monitor and review audit system and activities.
    • Plan, undertake and report on audit outcomes.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of systematic approaches to identifying ES&H hazards;
    •  ES&H risk management, and ES&H monitoring processes.
    • Assess and advise on organizational ES&H compliance against agreed benchmarks.

Training Methodology

This is an interactive course. There will be open question and answer sessions, regular group exercises and activities, videos, case studies, and presentations on best practice. Participants will have the opportunity to share with the facilitator and other participants on what works well and not so well for them, as well as work on issues from their own organizations. The online course is conducted online using MS-Teams/ClickMeeting.
